The golden Cotswold stone of Agdon Farm House, on The Marquis of Northampton's estate at Compton Wynyates, has immense charm and character. Dating back centuries, this old and historic family run working farm is home to Maggie and Richard Cripps, and in the cottage by the gate, their son Ollie and daughter in law Claire: The family is completed by daughter Jo and grandson Ben, who are also close at hand.
This delightful family home has a beguiling honesty, warmth and vivacity, which gives it enormous charm. Each of the guest bedrooms is decorated in such a way as to make one feel welcomed and almost part of the family as soon as you arrive. A veritable home from home, guests are invited to use the family sitting room and dining room whenever they wish, night or day; the sitting room has a TV, DVD and VCR for guests entertainment.
With just three guest bedrooms at Agdon, you are assured a superb level of service: Choose from a double, a twin, or a family room. All the rooms include TV's, a complimentary selection of hot beverages and snacks, and a hairdryer; plus extra pillows and blankets are stored in the wardrobes for guests use. The guest rooms share a generously proportioned bathroom, with your host's bathroom on the third floor, which can be used by guests when needed.
Maggie's full cooked breakfast is most mouth-watering and flavoursome, as one would expect in such a wonderful old farmhouse, and is served at your convenience between 7 and 9am. After a sumptuous repast, you can explore the local attractions, which include: Bicester Shopping Village, for designer labels; Hook Norton Brewery, which has tours, tastings, and a shop; Upton House, with paintings by Stubbs, a formal garden and other attractions; and Blenheim Palace, the majestic seat of the Dukes of Marlborough, with formal gardens, a maze and a butterfly house.
